Model No. 94 Tru-Bal™ Mountain Bowie Throwing Knife by Stephen D. McEvoy

The Mountain Bowie is the biggest knife in the Tru-Bal line-up. It is also the most impressive.

When you hold this knife and feel its heft, you might be tempted to quote Crocodile Dundee: “That’s not a knife. THIS is a knife.”

Because of its weight and shaped handle, the Moutain Bowie is an excellent heavyweight handle thrower. It is also an ideal outdoor survival knife. With accurate throws, this could easily make dinner out of small game.

The Mountain Bowie is made from specially tempered spring steel to stand up to a lifetime of rugged, all-purpose use. It is approximately 15 inches long and weighs about 21 ounces. It is 2 1/4″ wide at the blade and 3/16″ thick.

This knife is one of only two Tru-Bal knifes that have a comfortable anatomic handle. The sturdy vulcanized fiber handle slabs are solidly riveted to resist the shock of throwing.

Durable leather sheath and throwing instructions are included.

This knife is brand new from the factory. It is handmade by Stephen D. McEvoy, son of the founder of the Tru-Balance Knife Company, Harry K. McEvoy.

Model No. 76 Tru-Bal™ THROWING DIRK Throwing Knife by Stephen D. McEvoy

The year was 1976, America’s Bicentennial. Two hundred years of American history. A sense of hope and expectancy was in the air.

And to celebrate, Harry McEvoy designed Model No. 76, the Tru-Bal Throwing Dirk.

This knife is perfectly balanced so it can be throw equally well from the handle or the blade. The knife is symmetrical, and it flares out gently at the hilt, as if the knife had sprouted wings to guide it to its target.

Look at the knife closely and you might imagine a medieval thief with a pair of Throwing Dirks concealed under his leather gauntlets, ready for a bar fight or any other kind of criminal mischief.

Like all Tru-Bal knives the Throwing Dirk is handmade of super-tough, specially tempered spring steel for a lifetime of rugged use.

It is 13 1/2″ overall in length, 2″ wide, 3/16″ thick and it weighs 15 ounces — the same weight as the Bowie-Axe throwing knife.

Includes a heavy, handcrafted leather sheath and complete instructions for throwing.

This knife is brand new from the factory. It is handmade by Stephen D. McEvoy, son of the founder of the Tru-Balance Knife Company, Harry K. McEvoy.

Model No. 70 Tru-Bal™ Classic PRO-THROW Knife by Stephen D. McEvoy

Is this the most copied throwing knife in the world?

Probably.

Harry E. McEvoy’s original design has been duplicated by knife makers all over the world. And the knife itself has been in use for nearly 40 years straight.

And yet in spite of its popularity, Harry’s son Stephen McEvoy decided he could make it even better. And that’s exactly what he did.

In this newly revised version, The Tru-Bal Classic Pro-Throw has a slightly thinner blade and smooth lines.

Perfectly balanced, this knife can be hurled equally well by the handle or the blade. Accurate throws are this knife’s specialty.

The Classic Pro-Throw is handcrafted of super-tough tempered spring steel. Jet black vulcanized fiber handle slabs with heavy rivets complete the ensemble.

It is 13 1/2″ overall, 2″ wide, 3/16″ thick and weighs 15 ounces.

Sturdy leather sheath and throwing instructions included.

This knife is brand new from the factory. It is handmade by Stephen D. McEvoy, son of the founder of the Tru-Balance Knife Company, Harry K. McEvoy.

Tru-Bal gets a lot of requests for their old Model No. 1, which they no longer make and Stephen told me he doesn’t understand why because the Model No. 70 is a superior knife that throws better than the old Model No. 1.

Model No. 6 Tru-Bal™ RIFLEMAN Throwing Knife by Stephen D. McEvoy

In the early days of America, when colonists were fighting for their independence from the oppressive British government, survival was the order of the day.

Most colonists were armed with two weapons: a rifle and a knife.

In those days, rifles were often unreliable. You might get off one shot… if you were lucky. Misfires were common.

In such cases, a colonist’s knife became his primary weapon for defending himself.

The Tru-Bal Rifleman’s throwing knife stays true to its history. The straight blade makes it perfect for hunting, fishing, and various survival needs.

And the 13 1/2″ blade is long enough to kill a man in hand-to-hand combat, as was often done during the Revolutionary War.

Of course, the Tru-Bal Rifleman is different from its predecessors in one important way: it has been designed as a throwing knife, and can be thrown equally well by the handle or the blade.

All of which has made the Rifleman a very popular knife with the nation’s muzzle-loading enthusiasts.

The Rifleman is hand-made out of tempered spring steel. And the handle slabs are made of tough vulcanized fiber, secured by extra-heavy rivets. In sum, it is a rugged knife fit for true American patriots.

The Rifleman is 13 1/2″ overall, 1 1/2″ wide and 3/16″ thick. It weighs 14 ounces and comes with a durable, heavy-duty leather sheath to protect the blade.

Model No. 4 Tru-Bal™ BATTLE BLADE Throwing Knife by Stephen D. McEvoy

The Model No. 4 Tru-Bal Battle Blade stays true to the heritage of Tru-Bal throwing knives.

It is hand-crafted of super-tough, especially tempered spring steel with extended tang to take up the shock of throwing. Handle slabs are made of durable vulcanized fibre, held firmly in place by heavy rivets.

This combat weapon is a combination fighting, hunting, survival and throwing knife.

But here’s what makes the Battle Blade different:

Firstly, the back of the blade tapers toward the tip, giving the knife an aggressive appearance.

Secondly, the handle widens toward the butt of the knife so it is easier to grip. (This knife will not accidentally slip out of your hand, but is still easy to throw.)

This rugged foot-long fighting knife represents a triumph in combat cutlery.

Overall length is 12″, width 1-1/2″, thickness 3/16″. Weighs 12 ounces.

Brown leather sheath and throwing instructions included.

This knife is brand new from the factory. It is handmade by Stephen D. McEvoy, son of the founder of the Tru-Balance Knife Company, Harry K. McEvoy.
