I was just outside throwing my new Brokenfeather tomahawk from Joe Darrah. He just sent it to me and it’s a beauty! He made it to match the “Bullseye Seeker” mountain man bowie he made me several months ago. Since I don’t have any Tru-Bal throwing knives with leather handles (yet) I used this knife in New Mexico for my first mountain man style throwing competition where I took second place in the amateur division. Not bad for my first official throw! Continue reading My New Brokenfeather Tomahawk from Joe Darrah
I was able to attend my first real throwing knife competition…as a spectator…this past weekend. The Rocky Mountain Knife and Tomahawk Competition was held in Creede, Colorado on June 27-28, 2009. It was just a short five-and-a-half hour drive through some of the most beautiful Colorado scenery I’ve seen in a long time. Continue reading 2009 Rocky Mountain Knife and Tomahawk Competition
This is a Tru-Bal Model No. 4-A I won on eBay in February of 2009 from the same gentleman I purchased a Model No.70 from. This model wasn’t being made in 1983 and 1984 when I was purchasing Tru-Bal throwing knives. It was in excellent condition for a knife that the seller claimed was from the mid 1970’s. I’ve been looking for some time now at a lot of knife cases that would work for Tru-Bal throwing knives. I think I finally found the best one for holding anywhere from 1-6 throwing knives depending on the model. It’s the Maxpedition R-14 Razorshell knife case. I’ve recently met Joe Darrah of “Brokenfeather” knives over the magic of the internets. He was kind enough to share with me his process of painting throwing knife targets. He also sent me some great photos and he said I could share them with you.
