This knife came from Bobby Branton’s collection. I bought it from Dave Jester. Though there are several others in his collection that have the same blade shape this is a one-of-a-kind version with stag handles.
It is 13-1/4″ long, 2-1/2″ wide, 5/32″ thick. It weighs 15.6 ounces. It is in terrific shape. Like new. But the handles do have some cracks though they are not loose in any way.
I asked Stephen about this knife and he said, “This is a hybrid design that was never a Tru-Bal catalog item. It resembles an ATM Target Bowie which was later produced for a short time by my brother-in-law under the name American Target Knives. The bone handle version you have was made by Dad about 1989 or 1990 and is the only model with a bone handle. We sold that knife to Bobby Branton in approximately 1993. Dad would have called it a “Battle Bowie” (a generic name for several large Bowie throwers). Any of this model stamped ATK would be the American Target Knives version. The knife was designed by Dad but offered to his son-in law as an ATK catalog model.”
